My Training

Before I became a health coach and nutritional consultant, I had been a registered nurse for over 20 years and certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) for 15 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach in 1990. After practicing in the Intensive Care Unit for over 5 years, I went back to school to become a CRNA. I received my Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Southern California in 1998. After 15 years practicing anesthesia, I decided to shift my focus from acute care or "disease care" to a more holistic approach in preventative care and wellness promotion with a focus on nutrition.

I received my training as a health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

My education as a registered nurse and holistic practitioner has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make dietary and lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health and happiness. I will personally and carefully guide you to make simple, sustainable changes that transform your life

I continue to immerse myself in the study of functional nutrition, which has become my passion. I have heard the field of functional nutrition best described by Andrea Nakayama, Functional Nutritionist, as the place "where art, science and nutrition meet to help you determine what's going on in there!" I am currently enrolled in The Holistic Nutrition Lab: Full Body Systems continuing education course, a year-long immersion into functional nutrition as it relates to every system in the body.
